With the first two sessions of preseason under our belts we sat down with new Head Coach Chris to discuss his vision for the coming season and what he expects from the players, he had this to say:
“Last Thursday saw the return to training at Yew Street for the up-and-coming season in the ‘Counties 4 ADM Lancashire & Cheshire league’. It was exciting to see a good mix of forwards and backs eager to get back on the field and play rugby, also with 5 new players arriving shows the club is only going up and growing.
Fitness and new strategies of play are key during these session and getting the old and new players to adopt new ways of thinking through skill testing, fitness testing and game play. Here at Broughton, it is time to bring in high intensity rugby with a professional looking side. This is only done in training, with meet times and game day.
We have a lot of hard work ahead of us, if we want to compete in the league and cup competitions. In order to achieve this, I need the commitment of each and every player as what we are creating here at Broughton is something that belongs to the players of the club and our spectators.
With the help of club captain Sam Donley, team manager Craig Barnes, the new coaching and physio team we can bring quality level rugby back to Broughton.
See you all at training Tuesdays and Thursday on field for 7pm”
