Bury RUFC

Broughton's new 2nd team have finally got the win the team needed and deserved.

With a new regime in at the club, with the rule if you don’t train you don’t play, this meant a few players being put in to the 2nd team, that could have been in the 1st team.

We also welcomed a couple of new players into the team, with Harry Coleman and CJ joining us for their first game.

The game started very well for Broughton, but we failed to score during our quick start. Bury managed to get a few phases of play and with offside given in the centre of the park which they took the 3 points.

After the restart, again Broughton looked strong but Bury managed to contain the play, with help from a few mistakes from Broughton. Bury went on the score a converted try.

With the score at 10-0 at half time, Broughton were not out of this yet.

Bury started the 2nd half the stronger and again picked up another 3 points from an offside. but this is where the game changed.

With a few changes to the back line, Broughton started to play the rugby they knew and was now confident to play. Broughton was the next to score, with an assist that can only be described as out of this world from the centre Martin Ian, to set up Jamie Parker.

The game then got a little bit scrappy, with both team pushing the lines and trying to get the next score. The pressure lead to another Broughton score, the consistent Josh Salmon scored from within his own half, showing his pace and agility to go over and put the ball down under the sticks.

The last try came from a tried and tested lineout, which was finished by Sam Donley in the corner.

Man of the Match went to Julio Huerta - Making only his 2nd appearance for the club, and who was wrongly given as out of play when he should have been given a try in the first half.

This week see the second team at home against Manchester Hawks 2:15KO
